CALLING ALL SHOE FREAKS! MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT!
WHAT: Kathryn Kerrigan Shoe Boutique opening
WHERE: North Bucktown, between Armitage and Webster
WHEN: May 2010
WHO: Stephanie Sack, owner of vive la femme; and Kathryn Kerrigan, owner and head designer of Kathryn Kerrigan, Inc.
INFORMATION: Local entrepreneurs Stephanie Sack and Kathryn Kerrigan are pleased to announce the upcoming opening of Chicago's first Kathryn Kerrigan Shoe Boutique, specializing in high-end, on-trend footwear in European sizes from 39 to 45. Although Kathryn Kerrigan caters to women that leave a larger imprint, a spectrum of sizes 36-46 is available at kathrynkerrigan.com, and Kathryn Kerrigan Libertyville, granting an enjoyable shopping experience for every woman.
Ms. Sack, an eight-year veteran of independent retail, also owns vive la femme, Chicago's only independent boutique exclusively featuring the latest looks and trends in sizes 12-24. Ms. Kerrigan is the visionary behind her eponymous line of luxury footwear catering to stylish women who wear and want shoes and boots up to a size 15.
It was only natural that the two women collaborate to bring the Kathryn Kerrigan line to the larger woman of Chicago. "I have been a fan and customer of Kathryn Kerrigan for years, and really admire who Kathryn is and what she does," explains Ms. Sack. "I constantly field requests for shoes from vive la femme's customers, and after hosting a number of successful trunk shows featuring Kathryn's gorgeous shoes, I decided to open up a Kathryn Kerrigan boutique of my own!"
The synergy between vive la femme's concept of offering flattering and feminine fashion in sizes 12 and up and Kathryn Kerrigan's goal to deliver chic footwear to women who wear Euro sizes 39 and up was undeniable. "Customers have been asking for a shop in Chicago, and I feel that Stephanie and vive la femme match the Kathryn Kerrigan label and lifestyle," explains Ms. Kerrigan. "We are thrilled to be working together!"
The Kathryn Kerrigan - Chicago boutique will carry sizes 39 to 45 and focus on timeless styles that can translate effortlessly from work to weekend and day to play.
Core styles include a range of comfortable and versatile flats in both neutral and "pop" colors, jean-friendly wedges with street-chic detailing, and classic kitten heels inspired by looks of the 1940s and 1950s. Styles were chosen collaboratively between Ms. Sack and Ms. Kerrigan to match the typical silhouettes at vive la femme, which currently include smart seasonal separates, work-friendly soft suiting, and Mad Men-esque silhouettes.
The new Kathryn Kerrigan shop is scheduled to open in May of 2010.

purple and grey...
There is a lot going on behind the scenes over here at Redskew and vive la femme, so the production has been off to a slow start this spring.... but I'm so excited about this skirt (and a few others in the pipeline) that I've got the sewing machine positively PURRRING this week.
This skirt is a purple body with a grey hem, popped with a grey/black/white stripe ribbon ($65). It goes back to shades of grey, black and white. Available this week at vive la femme. Also, a magenta body with grey hem.

Exciting news at Redskew
My newest retail outlet, Pink Ginger, in Seattle, is already nearly sold out of Redskew skirts, and I'm working on getting her some new swatches soon.
I'm wrapping up this week's skirts for vive la femme, where we just got in the CUTEST new line of stylish workwear, Kingley and Posh! Fresia, the owner and designer, did a trunk show at vive on Tuesday and she and I had a blast chatting about design and all that good stuff.
Here is this week's skirt at VLF: a black with white leaf motif ($65), shown with Kingley and Posh Peasant Blouse ($75). Would also be fab with a red patent belt!

July
Not entirely sure how time passes so quickly!!!! Here we are, nearing the end of July, and I've got another back log of skirts to post about! I'm also working on some one of a kind hand bags and new pieces for fall.
For now, a burst of color and white in which to enjoy the dog days of summer! These skirts most easily go back to a white top, but be daring and pop a coordinating (see notes) or contrasting tank and a denim jacket for a fun look!

Chocolate and white Bandana print skirt, Redskew, $65, Karen Kane eyelet tee, $100. I would also put grass green, cherry red or sunny yellow with this chocolate brown.

Red-orange and white floral skirt, Redskew, $65; Navy Maitai tunic, $35. I do LOVE navy with this intense color, but it many shades of blue work, as well as white or brown.

Yellow and white graphic floral print skirt, Redskew, $65; Karen Kane eyelet blouse, $125. Purple, grey, magenta and cobalt also look hot with this yellow.
